Early Day

Is it bad that I got home today at 6:30 and considered that early. We spent all day Tuesday into the early morning hours of Wednesday doing force protection drills, and the night before I had the 10-2 watch. Needless to say, I was less than functional today. Somehow I managed to get a fair amount of work done before the end of the new "work day", but had they asked me to stay after 6 I would have been useless. I am literally so tired at the end of the day, that all I have energy for is eating and showering before I start falling asleep on the couch. At least things have turned around at work. It has taken a lot of outside of work meetings, and a lot of extra planning on my part, but I think we are finally getting things together. More than anything I am learning how to communicate up and down the chain of command. We are still having problems with misunderstandings and people straight up not listening, but we are making steady progress.

Where there had once been a sense of hopelessness surrounding work, there now seems to be a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. My friend Jason, a very cynical man, is convinced that light is a train, but I continue to stay positive. The guys are doing great work and once we get our act together we can really start making progress. Enough about that though. It seems that I have a wall socially. The recent circumstances surrounding my career make it increasingly difficult to meet new people. The church that Matthew and I attend is a good place to meet people, but the population of young adults in this small church is sparse. It is much easier in college and I guess I got used to having a social network of several people down the street and thousands of people on campus. It is probably not all bad, I wouldn't have time for friends or new people. Oh well, maybe if I keep getting early days, around 6 I will expand.
